Several weeks ago, a group of some of my most favorite cookie gals decided to join forces and throw Cristin of Cristin's Cookies a virtual baby shower. See, Cristin is about to become a grandma and she is sooooo excited. If you have anything to do with cookies at all....odds are Cristin has supported you, encouraged you, offered kind words. She is one of the nicest, kindest people I've ever 'met' in this virtual world.
So we decided to pull our inspiration from some of our favorite children's books. Originally, I had every intention of using a Sandra Boyton book. Once upon a time, my younger sister's nursery was decorated in Sandra Boyton characters.
But then I visited the bookstore and immediately "To give a mouse a cookie" jumped out at me. How could I pass up a book with the word cookie in the title? More importantly, how could I forget about this wonderful book?! I used to love that book!
So I bought it and brought it home with me. Then I got to work. I knew I wanted these cookies to be beautiful, so I started early. I was going to plan ahead and have plenty of time for these very special cookies. And that's just what I did. I baked them early, outlined them early and flooded some parts early. Boy these cookies were shaping up nicely!!!
And then those horrible storms hit. And I went without power for 5 1/2 out of 7 days, practically lived at my grandparent's apartment, dealt with 4 dogs and somehow had to manage my other weekly orders.
So the cookies sat. And sat some more. Until the deadline approached and I ran out of time.
Those storms sure put a cramp in my timeline!
Oh well, sometimes simple is better, right? RIGHT?!

Oh Kate thank you so much for the perfect book! You're right that it couldn't be passed up when it had the word COOKIE in it! Mellissa and I had so much fun cuddling up on the couch together and reading all of Abigail's books! Your cookies are adorable. I can't believe you said "simple is better". If that's your version of simple, then I'm in way over my head! Your mouse cookies are just adorable and I'm so beyond touched by the thoughtfulness of you and the other girls.
